Research grants

The Hjalmar Gullberg and Greta Thott Scholarship Fund

Amount: SEK 250 000

Purpose: Grants/scholarships for primarily doctoral students in the humanities at Lund University who have yet to obtain a doctoral degree and, secondly, to humanities researchers at Lund University (employed or affiliated) who have recently obtained a doctoral degree (at most 3 years ago).

Grants/scholarships are primarily awarded to doctoral students/researchers in literature and/or classical languages, and secondly to doctoral students/researchers in modern European languages and/or philosophy. A requirement for doctoral students/researchers in modern European languages is that their studies/research are focused on literature; for doctoral students/researchers in philosophy, the studies/research must be focused on the history of ideas.

Researchers are to include a project description in their application. Funding for printing of research articles may also be requested, together with a price quote.

The award decision will be made by the award board of the Hjalmar Gullberg and Greta Thott Scholarship Fund. The award decision will be made in December 2021 at the latest.

Doctor of Theology Henning Wijkmark Foundation

Amount: SEK 40 000

Purpose: Two grant/scholarship for third cycle students of Scandinavian and Comparative Literature at Lund University

The award decision will be made by the award board of the Doctor of Theology Henning Wijkmark Foundation. The award decision will be made in December 2021 at the latest.

Application

Applications for research grants from the foundation are to be made via the Lund University application system for scholarships and grants.

Disbursement

Disbursement to persons employed at Lund University/other higher education institution will be made to the applicant’s department. Where applicable, the application is to include the department’s overhead costs. It is appropriate to include these under the heading ‘other costs’. The costs stated in the application are to exclude VAT.

Third cycle students applying for a grant/scholarship to complete their PhD studies from the Hjalmar Gullberg and Greta Thott Scholarship Fund do not need to specify their expenses, as a standard amount is awarded for this purpose. If the application is submitted during employment, but the scholarship is intended to be used after the termination of employment, the funds will not be paid directly, but only on request when the employment has been terminated.

In cases where the statutes of the foundation allow grants to be paid to organisations outside Lund University or to students directly, the payment will be made to a personal bank account or the equivalent. In such cases, the costs stated in the application are to include VAT.

If the funds have not been used for the stated purpose within the timeframe decided, they are to be repaid.
