Travel and research grants at the Lund University School of Economics and Management (LUSEM)
Application
The application form is available in the application system for scholarships and grants.
The application is to include a brief but precise statement of the purpose of the trip and its significance for the applicant’s research.
- Applications that lack cost specification and an account of the purpose of the trip will not be awarded grants.
- Research students must attach a certificate from their supervisor.
- Active conference participation is to be documented with an invitation or abstract.
Criteria for grant allocation
The following criteria, in addition to the specific criteria indicated for each foundation, are applied for the allocation of funds:
- Conference trips with active conference participation are given precedence over purely research-driven travel.
- If funds remain after allocation to prioritised purposes, doctoral student researchers are to be given precedence over post-doctoral researchers.
- Applicants who have been awarded SEK 30 000 or more during the past five years are not awarded grants if the funds available are scarce.
- Grants are not awarded for trips which have already been completed at the time of the decision.
- Cost coverage is sought but grants for a daily allowance are not given if the funds available are scarce.
- Applicants in the first cycle of studies are not awarded grants.
Submitted applications are processed in consultation with the Partnership Foundation and the vice dean for third cycle studies at the School of Economics and Management.
Decision
The decision on the allocation of funds is taken by the board of the School of Economics and Management, unless otherwise indicated for the relevant foundation.
Payment
Payments to employees of Lund University are made to the applicant’s department. Where applicable, the application should take account of the department’s additional overhead costs. It is appropriate to include these under the heading “other costs”. In such cases, the costs stated in the application are to exclude VAT.
In cases where, according to the statutes of the foundation, grants can also be awarded to activities outside Lund University or to students, and such applications are approved, payment is made to a private bank account or equivalent. In this case, the costs stated in the application are to include VAT.
Disposal time
Awarded funds are to be used within 31 December 2024.
If the funds have not been used for the purpose for which they were allocated within the timeframe decided, they are to be repaid.
