Methodological studies and educational courses September 2023

Description of the call
Barncancerfonden calls for proposals for methodological studies abroad (up to three months) to researchers within the area of children oncology and proposals for educational courses for non-clinical employees. The call is open three times per year. The grant is sought in advance. The methodological study/educational course can earliest start after this call has closed, i.e. after that the last day for application has passed.

Eligible to apply
Eligible to apply for methodological studies abroad are medical doctors, researchers, counsellors, psychologists, nurses or other person active in the field of childhood cancer.

Eligible to apply for educational courses are non-clinically active persons. Clinically active persons can during certain circumstances be eligible to apply for educational courses, if so, it has to be clearly motivated why Barncancerfondens allocated money for in-service training (fortbildningsbidrag) not can be used for this purpose.

Approved costs
Grants for methodological studies and educational courses are generally intended to fully or partly cover low-price return tickets, housing cost and return transfer tickets. Allowance or meal costs are not approved costs. Course fees are also approved within the educational course grant.

The two above mentioned grants are personal and may only be used for the purpose specified in the application.

Administration
The grant is to be administered by a Swedish university or institute, alternatively another Swedish organization with research as its main purpose in collaboration with a university or institute.  

A specified requisition for actual costs is sent to Barncancerfonden after the travel.

Reporting
A report should be submitted via the application system after the travel. Reporting is mandatory and the grant will not be disbursed if the report is not submitted.

Organization of the application
Instructions on how to fill in the application form is found in the top right corner on each tab. The application may be written either in English or in Swedish. It should clearly be stated how a completed methodological study/educational course will promote the childhood cancer relevance in the applicant’s research.

Application documents
A complete application is submitted via the application system. Note that the application may not be submitted electronically if mandatory information is missing. Incomplete or late applications will not be handled. Application documents includes a filled-in web form and uploaded appendices.

Confirmation of the application
The application must be confirmed by the main applicant and the head of department, director or equivalent in order to be valid. The main applicant confirms the application in connection to submission. Note that this must be done before the closure of the call. The day after the call has closed, an email with a request to confirm the application is sent to the head of department, director or equivalent you have stated in the application. Confirmation must be done no later than 7 days after the call has closed.

Application period
